Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” – Rumi

Hi, I’m Monica Farassat, Psy.D., LMFT, CGP.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Certified Group Therapist. I have treated numerous individuals, couples, and groups with a wide range of concerns since 1988. My private practice is located in Santa Monica, California. Presently, I am conducting my sessions via Zoom, but am looking forward to meet in person when possible.

Additionally, I am the Director of Education at The Saturday Center for Psychotherapy, a psychodynamically oriented internship program, where I supervise interns, have lead the training group in the parallel process model, and have led the process group for the interns intermittently.

My training and clinical experience include the psychodynamic psychotherapy programs at Psychoanalytic Center of California, Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis, AIDS Project L.A., Thailian Early Childhood Center, Los Angeles Free Clinic, and the study of group relations at AKRI. I have led many parent groups through the course of PET (Parent Effectiveness Training), have extensive experience in leading interpersonal and psycho-educational groups, have conducted several weekend institutes sponsored by GPALA, am on the faculty of the annual Principle’s course at GPALA, and have participated in leading small groups for the GPALA annual conferences for several years. I have a special interest and passion in leading groups and continue my training in the field of individual, couples, and group psychotherapy.

I am a member of CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family therapy; GPALA (Group Psychotherapy Association of L.A.); and AGPA (American Group Psychotherapy Association).
